Philippine Infrastructure Seminar

JETRO Manila, together with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), held The Philippines Infrastructure Development Seminar, Japanese Contribution to Philippine Infrastructure Development at New World Hotel Manila last February 2013.
Held last February 15, 2013 at the New World Hotel Manila, the seminar on Philippine infrastructure development was attended by personalities from both the government and the private sectors. The seminar which was co organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and JETRO Manila has became a platform for the government to update the private sectors of the infrastructural development of the Philippines and at the same time provided the opportunity for distinguished Japanese private organizations to lay their policy presentations and feasibility studies for possible infrastructural contribution.
Key note speeches from the government side included that of NEDA's Socioeconomic Planning Secretary, Arsenio Balisacan who gave one of the opening addresses. Representatives from government entities also includes Ms. Cosette Canilao from the PPP Center of the Philippines, and representatives from the Department of Energy, Department of Transportation and Communications, and the MWSS. All of them presenting the development of the Philippines in terms of infrastructure.
On the other end, presentations of the private sectors were divided into three groups, first group included private organizations focused on energy supply infrastructure projects such as the Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering Co., Ltd., Osaka Gas Co., Ltd, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. Presentations on Urban Railways Projects included of the feasibility study of a monorail project in Central Manila by Hitachi, Ltd. Lastly, presentation of possible infrastructure projects on sewerage system and sanitation improvement included that of from Nippon Koei Co., Ltd, Iseki Poly-Tech, Inc., Seikisui Chemical Co., Ltd, and Housetec Co., Ltd.
To top it all of, the event also serve as a networking opportunity for the companies.
