Utilizing overseas ideas for disaster prevention -Sendai's collaboration with Finland-

Sendai City, which was severely damaged by the tsunami following the Great East Japan Earthquake, is making efforts to build a disaster-resistant city. In an effort to bring new methods for disaster prevention, including the use of drones, the city has invited eight IT companies from Finland, which has a long relationship with the city. While visiting the disaster-hit areas, the companies deepen their understanding of the needs of the disaster victims. They compete for ideas for disaster prevention using mobile phones and other devices at an event called "Hackathon" in which they come up with solutions within the time limit, utilizing their expertise in AI technology. Each participant faces challenges with their own thoughts. We covered the challenges of Sendai City, which is working on disaster prevention while incorporating knowledge from overseas.
