Announcement of participants and outline of the “ASEAN-Japan Generation Z Business Leaders Summit”

JETRO and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI), co-organizing with the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) and in collaboration with the ASEAN Foundation, will hold the “ASEAN-Japan Generation Z Business Leaders Summit” on December 14 and 15 in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture.

1．Background

While ASEAN is a global growth center, it still faces various social issues such as inequality. Japan, on the other hand, is faced with a declining birthrate and an aging population, while at the same time possessing experience and assets accumulated over the course of its growth to date.
With such background in mind, there is an urgent need to create "links" between young business leaders in Japan and ASEAN who have a strong awareness of social issues and take actions on their own initiative, and to foster new leaders of change.
Therefore, it is important to take this year, the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, as an opportunity to strengthen the partnership between Japan and ASEAN in the new era by deepening mutual understanding between Generation Z leaders in Japan and ASEAN and by creating opportunities to co-create solutions to social issues.

2．About the “ASEAN-Japan Generation Z Business Leaders Summit”

Considering the above background, JETRO and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan, co-organizing with the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) and in collaboration with the ASEAN Foundation, will hold the ASEAN-Japan Generation Z Business Leaders Summit on December 14 and 15 in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture.
A pre-event for the Summit will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia on October 18 and 19. We are pleased to announce the participants and outline of the Summit as follows.  

ASEAN-Japan Generation Z Business Leaders Summit

Co-organizer METI, JETRO, ASEAN-BAC, AEM-METI Economic and Industrial Cooperation Committee (AMEICC), PoliPoli
In collaboration with ASEAN Foundation
Objective To strengthen relations between Generation Z entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs in Japan and ASEAN, thereby contributing to solving the social challenges facing ASEAN, Japan, and the world.

Summit

  • Venue：Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture
    (Karuizawa Price Hotel)

Open sessions are planned at this summit. Registration procedures for the open sessions will be announced as soon as they are determined.
