An apple a day...

Prevention is high on Nippon Zettoc's list of priorities, dating back to the firm's first product, a tartar-prevention toothpaste created in 1954. Since then, the company has continued to innovate in the world of oral hygiene, developing pastes with anti-inflammatory enzymes and formulating a non-aqueous paste containing vitamin C-long known as great for gums, but until now difficult to include as a stable component. Though the firm cut its teeth in oral hygiene, Nippon Zettoc also has a long history in cosmetics, having partnered over the years with key brands in the industry. Current CEO Yuki Makita represents the fourth generation of his family to lead the company. Under his leadership, says Takayuki Sawaki, the company's overseas business unit manager, Nippon Zettoc is poised to share its experience and specialized technology with the world, beginning with the Asian market.

Own-brand

Nippon Zettoc has a large selection of own-brand goods for all ages including toothpaste, mouthwash and cosmetics. While the company's oral hygiene products are not available in Japan due to its legal status as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), they do market cosmetics domestically. In that area, its products fill niche needs including skin, eye and nail creams, scrubs and make-up base products with UVA and UVB protection. Its brands made inroads into China with the establishment in 2012 of Zettoc Trading Shanghai Co., Ltd. And though the firm is currently focusing on Asia, it has already made a modest entrance into Europe, with Zettoc toothpaste available for sale and endorsed at pharmacies and dental offices in Ukraine.

Not just another manufacturer

As an OEM, Nippon Zettoc does the legwork in research and development for many of Japan's major pharmaceutical companies, such as GSK (GlaxoSmithKline), Daiichi Sankyo Healthcare Co., Ltd. and Kobayashi Pharmaceutical Company, Ltd. Thanks to its long history, the firm has the experience and technological capabilities to not only develop new products but test stability, safety and efficacy. In fact, 30 staff members are devoted to R&D, showing a determination to head for, and stay at, the front of the race to find the next big thing. Nippon Zettoc's new manufacturing facility, built in 2008, is Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) -compliant, meaning that it meets guidelines set by agencies that control authorization and licensing for the manufacture and sale of food, drug and pharmaceutical products. It is also certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO9001: 2008), providing peace of mind for partners who require that products be made in a medical-grade facility.

Safe, advanced and focused on prevention

A strong background in R&D and a longstanding connection to the world of pharmaceuticals helps Nippon Zettoc stay a step ahead of the competition. A focus on products consumers can trust, and the conviction that prevention trumps treatment, make for a company that partners and consumers can believe in. Nippon Zettoc uses these principles to work toward its goal, to make every day happy and enjoyable.
