Uzbekistan-Japan Business Forum held in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. SAIDOV

On March 8, JETRO jointly held the “Uzbekistan-Japan Business Forum” with the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Tokyo, Japan.

It was joined by approximately 280 people from public and private sectors of the two countries, including State Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry Mr. Kozuki Ryosuke, JETRO Chairman and CEO Mr. Ishiguro Norihiko and Executive Vice President Mr. Maekawa Nobutaka from the Japanese side, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Bakhtiyor Saidov, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Khurram Teshabaev, Chairman of Uzbekistan Textile Industry Association Mr. Ilkhom Khaydarov and Vice Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Mr. Dilshod Rasulov from the Uzbek side.

In his opening remarks, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Affairs Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov introduced the government focus on deregulation and integration into the global economy and expressed hope for synergies between Japan's technology and Uzbekistan's resources in the collaboration between the two countries.

Economy, Trade and Industry State Minister Kozuki Ryosuke expressed his expectations for deepening relations between Uzbekistan, an “engine of economic development in Central Asia,” and Japan, along with Japan's advanced-energy and DX-related projects and SME support programs, to contribute to fostering industry and solving social issues in Uzbekistan.

JETRO Chairman and CEO Ishiguro Norihiko praised the increase in investment in Uzbekistan by Japanese companies and the expansion of cooperation area between the two countries and noted that JETRO will support companies doing business in Japan and Uzbekistan and contribute to the expansion of potential business opportunities in preparation for the "Central Asia plus Japan" dialogue and summit scheduled for this year.

In addition, presentations were given by companies and organizations from both countries on business opportunities in renewable energy, textiles, and human resources in Uzbekistan.

During a document exchange ceremony, cooperation documents were signed in the fields of environment, education and others.
