Conclusion of MOU with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT)

On May 8, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and JETRO renewed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the aim of further expanding trade and investment between China and Japan as well as deepening industrial relationships including collaboration between local regions of the two countries.
The MOU was signed by JETRO Chairman and CEO Hiroyuki Ishige and CCPIT Chairman Jiang Zengwei, who was visiting Japan.
With the renewal of the MOU, JETRO will devote itself to expanding cooperation with the CCPIT in order to promote two-way trade and investment between China and Japan, particularly focusing on FDI into Japan by Chinese companies and facilitation of exports by Japanese SMEs, as well as on the fields of healthcare for the elderly, innovation and ventures.
The following main activities have been agreed upon through the MOU:
- Under a common view that economic exchange between local regions of the two countries plays an important role in vitalizing regional economies, both organizations will make efforts to deepen economic cooperation between local regions of the two countries, proactively taking advantage of their respective networks.
- Both organizations will jointly conduct activities to facilitate cooperation in promoting the economy, trade and investment. FDI into Japan by Chinese companies and facilitation of exports by Japanese SMEs, as well as the fields of healthcare for the elderly, innovation and ventures, are given particular focus.
- Both organizations will assess the cooperative activities on a regular basis, conduct improvements as necessary and put forward ideas for new activities.
- Under a common view that protection of intellectual property rights is important in terms of facilitation of investment and development of science and technology, both organizations will contribute to the development of Chinese and Japanese companies through exchange meetings and seminars related to protection and utilization of intellectual property rights.
