JETRO presents at 14th Western China International Fair and holds disaster prevention symposium

Promoting exchange under the theme of disaster prevention
From October 23 to 27 in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, JETRO set up the Japan Pavilion at the 14th Western China International Fair (WCIF) to advertise Japanese products related to disaster prevention and disaster risk reduction, traditional crafts and food.
In tandem with the fair, JETRO dispatched a mission with representatives from six companies and three municipalities to the province from October 23 to 25 to visit the areas recovering from the 2008 earthquake and local companies. On October 24, JETRO co-hosted a symposium with the Sichuan Provincial Government entitled "Japan-China City Exchange Symposium on Disaster Prevention and Disaster Risk Reduction" to facilitate exchange in this field.
Chairman Ishige meets with Sichuan's Governor Wei Hong
On October 24 in Chengdu, JETRO's Chairman and CEO Hiroyuki Ishige met with Sichuan's Governor Wei Hong. The Governor expressed his welcome and expectation for establishment of a JETRO office in the city. He also expressed his hope for further development of trade and investment between Japan and his province.
JETRO will continue to implement various projects in order to support expansion of Japanese companies into China's central and western regions.
