Strength of the region's industries and economy

Tahara City, where Tahara plant of Toyota Motor Corporation and other various related industries are located, has become the second largest base for the sector of the finished car exportation. Taking advantage of its regional competitiveness, most of the companies in the industrial area are the manufacturers that supply parts to the neighboring Suzuki Motor Corporation, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, and electronics industries.
Regarding agriculture, the key industry of Tahara City, the gross agricultural output is the largest in Japan. However, there are issues with aging population and lack of successors. Therefore the city tries to secure farmers by introducing innovative technologies, and to establish the sustainable agricultural infrastructure that secures stable farm management by introducing ICT and other advanced farming systems.
