Living environment

The average temperature in Shizuoka Prefecture is 16.5 degrees. The prefecture has a mild climate with many sunny days in winter as well, and in low-lying areas doesn't have much snow fall. Shizuoka Prefecture is blessed with a magnificent natural environment and tourism resources, including Mt. Fuji, which is a designated World Heritage Site, Suruga Bay, and hot springs in the Izu Peninsula and elsewhere, so residents can enjoy beautiful scenery and a variety of leisure activities in all four seasons throughout the year. Furthermore, it has an abundance of agricultural, forestry and fishery resources, including tea, mandarin oranges, tuna, bonito, etc. Shizuoka offers an environment where business activities thrive and people can enjoy a fulfilling life as well.

There is one international school (Gyoshu Junior & Senior High School) in Numazu City.

Shizuoka Prefecture operates a medical information website, called “Shizuoka Medical Network” and provides non-Japanese nationals with information on available medical organizations in the prefecture in English, Chinese and Korean.
