Against the backdrop of diverse locally-based industries centered around metallic product fabrication and machining, a manufacturing industry cluster has been formed in central Niigata, comprised of manufacturing companies for metallic products, general machinery, and appliances and electronics.

[Three technical universities]
Niigata University (Faculty of Engineering), Nagaoka University of Technology, and Niigata Institute of Technology are working on the development of human resources and research and development in collaboration with companies. Attractive features

Niigata Prefecture is a leading producer of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products such as rice. It is also possible to acquire high-quality, rich water resources from its water sources including five major water systems. By taking advantage of these resources, the prefecture occupies the highest share of rice confectionery, aseptic-packaged rice, and fishery paste products in the domestic market.
