Major industry cluster plans, special zones and industry-government-academia collaboration of the industry

“Nagahama Science Park” was founded in 2002 based on four pillars of concepts: " creation of a new bio-industry hub"; " creation of base for a industry-academia interaction"; " cultivation of human resources"; and "creation of an autonomous industrial cluster". Their objectives are: clustering the biotechnology industry; establishing a system for creation of bio-industry by venture companies; forming a new bio-industry base which can cover the whole process from research and development to manufacturing/production .
For creation of bio-industry, it is crucial to establish a industry-academia exchange base to transfer and commercialize the technologies generated from the achievement by research institutes such as universities.
