Matsuyama City is a prefectural capital and continues to develop as a political, economic, and cultural center. Its urban form has a strong characteristic as a consumption city whose industrial sector shows 0.2% primary industry of agriculture, forestry, and fishery, 13% secondary manufacturing industry, and 86% tertiary industry of retail, lodging, and food and beverages.
As the result of preparing fiber-optic network ahead of the rest of the country, Matsuyama City succeeded in inviting information-related companies such as call centers and Cybozu, Inc. to set up the offices in the city. This city is also active in accumulating manufacturers such as Miura Co., Ltd. and NPC Inc., which has the largest market share in the world in solar cell production equipment.

|Support provided by local government or JETRO||
Guidance related to incentive application, support for recuriting personnel, etc.
When the company moved to Ehime as a foreign-affiliated company, the lack of knowledge of local regions was initially a major concern for us. Under these circumstances, support from the local government was, without a doubt, absolutely essential to the successful setup of a factory. In particular, during the first recruitment activity, we were provided with generous support such as being directly put in touch with job centers (Hello Work) and local education institutions, which led to smooth securing of personnel.
- The city actively provides company start-up support to companies that establish, extend, or move facilities to Matsuyama City, including taking the necessary promotional measures and support for land acquisition and finding employees.
