Conveniently located in the middle of Kyushu, the City is crisscrossed by primary national highways, expressways and bullet train lines, giving the City primacy in terms of accessibility.
From Kumamoto City, it takes about 150 minutes to reach all major cities in Kyushu by car. The entire Kyushu region will become a business opportunity if a company decides to set up business in the City.
The City also has a side of being a solid logistics hub given its superb transportation infrastructure. Day and night, freight trucks of transportation and wholesale companies operate out of Kumamoto Distribution Center and truck terminals.
In addition, beginning with Tokyo, there are regular flight services to major domestic cities and to Seoul, Korea as well. The City also operates regular international flight cargoes that connect to Busan/Korea. The City is equipped with a logistics infrastructure that encompasses land/sea/air routes.


The Kyushu Expressway Pass (KEP; Kyushu Jukan Expressway) stretches from north to south and there are four interchanges with in the city and nearby. Also, a smart interchange has been constructed in the southern area of the city and another one will be constructed in the northern area.


There are 21 flights between Kumamoto and Tokyo (Haneda) on a daily basis. Furthermore, there are regular flights to major domestic cities such as Nagoya, Osaka, and Kobe as well as to Seoul, Korea.


Kumamoto City services one international cargo flight to Busan/Korea two times a week. There are 15-17 commercial flights between Kumamoto City and Shimabara City of Nagasaki Prefecture.


In March 2011, all lines of Kyushu Bullet Train have become operational. Now it only takes 2 hours and 58 minutes to reach Osaka and 33 minutes to Fukuoka.
