Strength of the region's industries and economy

Kitanagoya City is located in the northwestern part of Aichi Prefecture and boasts a warm climate and fertile land. The city, a place where the Aise and Gojo Rivers run and the beautiful countryside scenery expands broadly, has been committed to the “West Area of Okimura Development Work” project, and has been developing the area so the city can be a residential, commercial and industrial space, taking advantage of its convenient location just 10km away from the central area of Nagoya City. Under the project, construction work for 9ha is planned to start in 2018.

[Requirements]
Companies must:
- Establish or rebuild plants and other facilities in the designated areas or replace depreciable property (machinery facilities)
- Have invested fixed assets, excluding land, of 500 million yen or more for large enterprises; 100 million yen or more for small and medium-sized enterprises; or 30 million yen or more for small enterprises
- Keep employing, for 5 years after business establishment, 100 or more permanent employees for large enterprises; 25 or more permanent employees for small and medium sized enterprises

- Large enterprises: 5% of the acquisition amount of fixed assets, excluding land; up to 200 million yen
- SMEs: 10% of the acquisition amount of fixed assets, excluding land, up to 200 million yen

Companies must:
- Newly build an advanced technology facility or expand an existing one in the city.
- Be eligible for the Subsidy Program to Promote Investments in the Cutting-Edge Sectors of the 21st Century.
- Have invested over 200 million yen in fixed assets and employ at least 5 new employees.

[Subsidy amount]
- 10% of the total fixed assets, excluding land (as for depreciable property alone, 5%); up to 200 million yen
- 50% of the fixed assets tax and city planning tax imposed on buildings and depreciable property; for 5 years

[For companies in advanced technology industries that intend to develop business in the west area of Okimura]
- 12% of the total fixed assets, excluding land; up to 1 billion yen
- 100% of the fixed assets tax and city planning tax imposed on buildings and depreciable property; for 3 years

Companies must engage in efforts for enhancing the bearing resistance of soft ground in certain areas of the priority development zone where companies intend to build their plants or other facilities or carry out efforts for enhancing ground resistance by curbing land sinking and consolidating pile foundation, which may be conducted by artificial means.*
*Note: Surface layer improvement methods, columnar improvement methods, pile construction methods, etc.
