Strength of the region's industries and economy
Kawasaki City, growing mainly based on manufacturing, has transformed largely into the leading-edge international industrial city where many research and development institute are located. King Skyfront, where the most advanced medical research facilities are gathered, and other clusters of research and development function and industrial technologies, provides great potential for Kawasaki. There are also many major companies, for instance major information and telecommunications companies including DELL, NEC, Canon, Toshiba, and Fujitsu, Mitsubishi Fuso, a leading bus and truck company, JFE Group, having highly advanced green technology, Ajinomoto, which produces food and amino acid-related products, and the headquarters of globally-known Toys "R" Us-Japan, Ltd.

In Tonomachi International Strategic Base (King Skyfront), research facilities of the most advanced medical technology are mainly clustered, including major foreign companies like Johnson & Johnson. Kawasaki Business Incubation Center (KBIC)
Kawasaki Business Incubation Center (KBIC) is an incubation facility opened in January 2003. It supports the development of companies at startup period and early stages, and companies’ entry in new business areas. Kawasaki City established the facility with an aim to activate the local economy through the sophistication of fundamental technology, and it is operated by the consortium of Kawasaki City Industrial Promotion Foundation and Mitsui & Co. Foresight Ltd.
