Living environment

Iwate Prefecture is the largest prefecture after Hokkaido, and it offers a wealth of sightseeing spots, including inspiring, magnificent coastlines, four beautiful seasons, majestic mountains, and relaxing hot springs. Iwate also offers cultural and living facilities to support residents, roads, parks, water and sewage systems, and provides a relaxed and comfortable environment where work places and private life can coexist in a community. In addition, Iwate prefecture offers the most prefecture-run hospitals in Japan and maintains a full range of healthcare and welfare services for the needs of local communities. All together, these features create a rich, secure living and working environment.

International schools

Iwate does not have international schools, so children will attend the same schools as Japanese children. The staff of the municipal boards of education can be contacted to discuss concerns people may have about receiving education in Japanese.

Health services catering to foreigners

The Iwate Medical Information Network has a website for finding hospitals that offer services in foreign languages.
Select “Search according to other conditions for medical facilities” ⇒ “Other hospital features (foreign languages, wheelchair access, etc.)”, and input the required region and language conditions.
