Strength of the region's industries and economy

Thanks to the combination of: the development of Japanese industries and structural change in products from industrialization involving the primary industry to mechanization and to computerization, and Japan’s passion for the manufacturing industry, Hamamatsu City has developed into an industrial city. Hamamatsu has seen the emergence of several companies that have become world brands, including Suzuki Motor Corporation, Yamaha Corporation, Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Roland Corporation, Hamamatsu Photonics, Co. Ltd. etc. In the process of the development of these industries, sophisticated technologies have been developed and a multi-tier concentration of industries was formed facilitated by specialization in manufacturing. The manufacturing industries, centered on textiles, musical instruments and transport equipment, have taken firm root in the city.

- Subsidizing part of the expenditure on land acquisition, new employment and business investments for companies that intend to construct plants and other facilities in the city (Incentive 1)
- Subsidizing the fixed assets tax, city planning tax, and business office tax for companies that have been subsidized under the Subsidy Program for Encouraging Companies to Establish Location (Incentive 2)
- Subsidizing part of the expenditure on rent, communication and new employment for companies that intend to rent an office to open a new business base in the central area of the city (Incentive 3).

- Manufacturing, data centers and distribution facilities: At least 1 new employee (at least 10 for distribution facilities); acquisition of 1,000m2 land; business investment of 50 million yen or more
- Laboratories: At least 1 new employee; total floor area of at least 200m2 (at least 5 researchers); business investment of 25 million yen or more

  1. Subsidizing up to 35% of the land acquisition cost (including the subsidy from Shizuoka Prefecture)
  2. Subsidizing up to 500,000 yen by new employee + subsidy of up to 10% of expenditure on production, research, etc. within the costs of factory construction and the purchase expense of machinery equipment
  3. Subsidizing up to 10% of expenditure on production, research, etc. in expenditure on plant construction and the purchase expense of machinery equipment

- Subsidizing the equivalent to the fixed assets tax, city planning tax and business facility tax for land that has been covered by the Subsidy Program and the buildings on the land
