Regional Profile

Strength of the region's industries and economy

Aichi Prefecture is located almost at the center of Japan. It has a rich natural environment, and an abundant workforce and human resources; all of them as a whole serve as a base for the well-balanced growth of industry, commerce and agriculture in the prefecture. In particular, Aichi Prefecture is the home of a cluster of manufacturing-related companies, in particular, in the transport machinery industry (automobiles, airplanes, etc.). From 1977 to today, Aichi has maintained its first place in Japan in terms of the value of its total shipments of manufactured products. Aichi also represents the first place in the 10 sectors among the 24 industry sectors for which statistics are kept. It boasts gross production of 353.7 billion dollars, surpassing Denmark in terms of economic scale.

Motivation for selecting region

- Aichi is a convenient location between Tokyo and Kyoto, both of which are popular destinations among overseas tourists
- We are able to enjoy lower costs than in Tokyo.

Support provided by local government or JETRO

- JETRO Nagoya office introduced us to certified administrative procedures and other legal specialists.
- We received a subsidy from Nagoya City Hall.

Comments

As it is uncommon for overseas tourism companies to establish a business base in Nagoya, it was not necessary for us to locate our base in Tokyo since we mainly transact business online. Rather, we take geographical advantage of Nagoya’s location between Tokyo and the Kansai region (Kyoto) to attract contact from hotels and other related industries from both areas.

Comments

As we actively worked to penetrate into the global market, catching up with the globalization of the automobile industry, we came to Japan with the aim of business building and the development of the new business in collaboration with the companies with technical capabilities. We chose Aichi, because the area was active in automobile industry and the development of new technologies, which helped the environment for the research and development to be in good condition. For the meantime, we are engaged in design works ordered by our headquarters in China in collaboration with Japanese companies. But in the future, we look to develop the Japanese market through accepting orders for design and production work from Japanese clients and through developing our own products. When we came here, we used a rental office, and had various supports such as collection of information on business and office.
