GBS K.K. is a Japanese subsidiary of GBS German Bionic Systems GmbH, a startup headquartered in Augsburg, Germany, that develops and manufactures next-generation exoskeleton power suit. GBS K.K. was established in Japan in 2018 to manage its business in Japan and East and Southeast Asian markets. Due to the necessity of achieving and maintaining stable productivity, especially in locations with high labor costs, power suit is attracting increasing attention. Also, the COVID-19 crisis has compelled workplaces to operate with fewer workers. The company leads the Robotics as a service (RaaS) industry leveraging its IoT-enabled power suit and supporting software technologies. We interviewed Mr. Hideo Yamashita, Managing Director of GBS K.K., about its initiatives and business in Japan.
