MIMETAS B.V. is a biotech venture company incorporated in 2013 based in Leiden, Netherlands.
The company develops and sells practical Organ-on-a-Chip (vital function chips) models for drug discovery and toxicological research.
The Organ-on-a-Chip of MIMETAS can accurately reproduce the functions of internal body organs using human-derived cultured cells on a USB flash memory-sized polymer microchip.
While, in conventional in vitro experiments, there are many cases of a divergence with the results that can occur in vivo, the experimental methods developed by the company and their practical Organ-on-a-Chip can produce more accurate forecast results.

Since the use of vital function chips in Japan is not as widespread as in Western countries at the moment, the company decided to enter the Japanese and Asian markets in anticipation of future market expansion in Japan and established Mimetas Japan Ltd. in Tokyo in July 2018.

To assist with the establishment of its base in Japan. the JETRO Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided consultation on tax matters. It also introduced service providers (tax accountant and real estate agency) and conducted business matching.
