Bachem Holding AG, founded in 1971, is a company that has manufactured pharmaceutical peptides since 1978. It has developed business in the European and US markets using Switzerland as its base. The company conducts process development and custom manufacturing of peptides for pharmaceutical use, supplying the pharmaceutical companies as well as biotechnology industry, and leads the market as a major player in its field.

With an eye on the potential of the Japanese peptide market, the company established Bachem Japan Co., Ltd. in Tokyo in July 2018 as a base responsible for Asia (China, Taiwan, South Korea, etc.) including supporting distributor.

For establishment of its Japanese base, the JETRO Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided consultation (on registration, visa and tax matters) and introduced service providers (real estate agency).
