Genesis Systems Group Japan strengthens production facilities to expand services

The Japanese subsidiary of Genesis Systems Group, which was founded in 1983 in the US state of Iowa and is the top robot arc welding systems integrator (a total-service company) in North America, relocated to a new facility in Aichi Prefecture incorporating both an office and a factory with a linear production capacity ranging from assembly to completion of production equipment. It wants to enhance its functions for customer service and support in Japan.

The company presents solutions in response to the needs of customers from development of laser welding systems and non-destructive inspection (NDI) systems to services such as construction, introduction and maintenance of production lines.

With factories in the US, Mexico and Japan, the group employs 300 people in total. In addition, its manufacturing partners in India, Brazil and the Czech Republic, are also playing a role to provide Genesis’s services globally.

Genesis’s first business with Japanese automobile manufacturers was in the US in 2003. The robust sales toward the Japanese automobile manufacturers, which had grown to account for 30% of the group's total, together with requests from customers, led Genesis to open a representative office in Aichi in 2009. In response to requests for local development and manufacturing of laser welding systems in Japan, it established a Japanese subsidiary in 2013 and launched laser-related operations in 2014. Currently, business centers around development and manufacturing of laser welding systems for automotive seats.

The JETRO Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) has been providing support for Genesis from the establishment of their representative office. For the expansion of the base this time around, IBSC provided assistance such as information on candidate locations, incentives and opportunities for networking.
