May 25, 2016
US-based InterCall is a major global provider of audio, web, and video conferencing services using PSTN (public switched telephone network). The characteristic feature of InterCall’s conferencing system is that it does not require installing new equipment but instead utilizes existing telephones, PCs, and internet lines to establish a platform of global communication between multiple hubs.
InterCall established a Japanese subsidiary, InterCall Japan K.K., in Tokyo in 2003 as a base from which to support the company’s foreign affiliated customers in Japan. In 2010, the company moved into Osaka in order to expand its business in Western Japan.
In August 2015, the company established a third office, in Nagoya, to grow sales in the Chubu regional market, one of Japan’s largest manufacturing hubs made up of everything from major automotive and aerospace companies that need to ensure smooth communication with their overseas offices, to small and medium sized companies with world-class technology.
To support the company in establishing its Nagoya office, JETRO’s Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided free, temporary office space, introductions to local government officials, and other assistance.
