HK Powertech Co. Ltd. began operation of its solar power plant in Okayama Prefecture in September 2014. The company established the 1MW plant on a 14,000 square meter site in Okayama City through its wholly owned Japanese subsidiary, and subsequently secured a purchase contract for electricity with the Chugoku Electric Power Company. HK Powertech chose Okayama Prefecture as an investment destination due to the prefecture`s abundance of sunlight hours and low risk of natural disasters.
In order to help set up the company`s Japanese subsidiary, JETRO’s Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided a range of support and services including information on Japan`s Feed-in Tariff system and other incentives, information on procedures for purchasing land, meeting arrangements with local government agencies, and consultations with expert advisors on company registration, opening a bank account, and visas.
