Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Orange County, California, Glaukos Corporation is an ophthalmic medical device company that is transforming the management of open-angle glaucoma through the development of technologies for micro invasive glaucoma surgery. Their exceptional technical advances have allowed them to receive awards such as the “2012 Red Herring 100 Global Winners,” which is awarded by Red Herring（US） to the top 100 innovative technology venture companies in the world. Overseas, they deploy businesses in a number of countries throughout the world, including countries in Germany, Canada, and Australia.

In March 2015, Glaukos established a limited liability company in Tokyo with the aim of promoting their innovative Trabecular Micro-Bypass Stent, through a direct sales and marketing effort supported by a full-scale business.

Prior to their entry into the Japanese market, JETRO’s Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided a range of services including information from the industry adviser, consultation with experts in the fields of company registration, and introduction to service providers.
