Comverge Inc.External site: a new window will open., the leading provider of demand management solutions for electric utilities has been selected by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) to participate in its Negawatt Feasibility Study to assess the potential of demand response in Japan. Joining Comverge on the project will be Kansai Electric Power Company (KEPCO) and MID Facility Management (MID-FM).

Between electric companies and customers, Comverge provides demand-response solutions to control electricity usage and ensure a stable supply through various methods such as time-varying rates and paying incentives to consumers who reduced usage during peak hours.

In order to set up its  subsidiary in Japan, JETRO’s Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided the company with a range of support and services, such as helping to find qualified staff members and a permanent Japanese office, introduction to local government agencies and service providers (IT, office furniture, translation), and provision of  information on incentives.
