VoiceTra
is a free speech translation application produced by the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT). The application translates your speech into over 30 different languages including Japanese and allows you to communicate with people from different parts of the world.

The “Portal Site on Policies for Foreign Residents”
on the website of the Cabinet Office of Japan provides useful information regarding the living environment for foreign residents in Japan and their support staff. Information for residents includes child/medical care, housing, pensions, education and more. The information is available in Japanese, English, Portuguese and Spanish.
