JETRO IBSC is a one-stop center for establishing a business base and starting your business in Japan.

IBSCs are located in six major cities of Japan— Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe and Fukuoka. At each IBSC, experienced IBSC staff and advisors provide information by using a broad network across government and private sectors, and offer consultation according to your company's needs. IBSCs also offer temporary office space for foreign firms that have not yet established a business base in Japan.

Support for Foreign Firms Targeting Expansion in Japan's Regions

IBSCs offer a range of support and service tailored specifically to foreign firms already in Japan and targeting expansion in regional areas. Utilizing a strong network with local governments and private sector specialists, as well as its own experienced advisors, IBSCs provide consultation on all matters related to expansion in Japan's regions. Below outlines the steps for utilizing the IBSC.

Procedure for Utilizing IBSCs


Contact your nearest JETRO office in Japan, if one or more of the following is true:

  • You have a representative office in Japan and want to convert the office into a branch or corporation, in order to begin sales activities in Japan.
  • You want to establish a new sales office, warehouse, plant or other facility due to expanded business.
  • You want to establish a holding company or subsidiary due to diversification of your business operations.
  • You want to hire managers or a larger staff in order to expand your business operations.

*Firms that want to close an existing office to relocate to another area in Japan are not eligible.
