    Mr. Tony Elumelu, C.O.N

    Tony O. Elumelu is one of Africa’s leading investors and philanthropists.
    He is the Founder and Chairman of Heirs Holdings, a family owned investment company, committed to improving lives and transforming Africa. Heirs Holdings’ portfolio spans the power, oil and gas, financial services, hospitality, real estate and healthcare sectors, operating in twenty-three countries worldwide.
    Tony is the Chairman of pan-African financial services group, the United Bank for Africa (UBA) with presence in 20 African countries, Paris, London and New York. He also chairs Nigeria’s largest quoted conglomerate, Transcorp Plc, whose subsidiaries include Transcorp Power, the largest generator of electricity in Nigeria.
    In 2010, he founded The Tony Elumelu Foundation, the leading philanthropy empowering African entrepreneurs and championing African entrepreneurship. The Foundation’s flagship initiative, the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme, is a 10-year, $100 million commitment to identify, train, mentor and fund 10,000 African entrepreneurs.

    Ethiopian Airlines

    Tewolde GebreMariam is a titan of the aviation industry. As Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines he presides over the fastest growing and most profitable airline in Africa. He began his career in the Cargo Traffic Handling Department at the company when he joined thirty years ago and rose up the ranks through overseas management, Marketing and Sales to Chief Operating Officer before his appointment as CEO.
    Along with the plethora of awards Ethiopian has won, Tewolde himself has won African CEO of the Year, Best African Business Leader, The Airline Strategy Award for Regional Leadership, the 2015 International Grand Prix Special Award in Milan and the Most Gender Focused CEO Award 2015 by the Leading Women of Africa Group. He earned his B.A. Degree in Economics from the Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia and his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Open University in the United Kingdom.

    After obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce (cum laude) degree from Stellenbosch University, Jacko studied at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar where he graduated in 1980 with a first class M.A. degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics.
    Jacko stepped down as Group Chief Executive of Standard Bank in March 2013 after more than 13 years at the helm of Africa’s largest bank which operates in 20 countries on the continent. Under his leadership, the Standard Bank share price increased from R21 to R118.
    After a cooling off period of almost 4 years, he was appointed non-executive Deputy Chairman of Standard Bank in November 2016. He is also non-executive Chairman of Liberty Holdings Limited, Standard Bank’s listed life insurance and asset management subsidiary and a non-executive board member of Phembani Group (Pty) Limited.
    Jacko is a former Deputy Chairman of Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA).
    He is also a former Vice President of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA).
    Jacko is a member of the International Advisory Council of China Investment Corporation (CIC) and a former member of board of the Institute of International Finance and the International Monetary Conference.
    In April 2018 Jacko was appointed by HE President Ramaphosa, as “Special Envoy on Investment to the President of the Republic of South Africa”.

    Mr. Satoshi Ozawa

    Satoshi Ozawa joined Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in April 1974. He was appointed general manager of Domestic Sales Planning Division’s sales Administration Department in January 1998. In January the following year, he was made general manager of the Human Resources Development Division, and in January 2000, deputy general manager of the Human Resourced Division. In January 2001, he became general manager of the Overseas Planning Division, and in June 2003, became a managing officer. In June 2007, he was appointed to the position of senior managing director. And in May 2010, he became an executive vice president and a member of the board. And in June 2015, he joined Toyota Tsusho Corporation as Chairman of The Board, and in April 2018, became a member of the board, and in June 2019, he was appointed to the position of senior Executive Advisor. He came into office in May 2017 as Chair of Committee on Sub-Saharan Africa, KEIDANREN (Japan Business Federation) and since June 2019, he has been Co-chair of Japan Business Council for Africa.

    Mbwana Alliy is the founder and managing partner at Savannah Fund, an Africa focused Technology Venture Capital fund Seed & Series A investments.
    He is passionate about product development and launching new ventures in technology with an application to emerging and frontier markets. He has a Bachelor's Engineering degree from Bristol University and an MBA from Stanford Graduate school of Business.
    As of 2019, he has overseen 30 investments in Africa in 7 countries (Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Zimbabwe Nigeria, Ethiopia and Ghana). These companies have generated over 400 full time jobs and raised over $60 Million in venture financing.

    Ahmed El Alfi has been an early/growth stage investor for the past 30 years.
    From 2010 to 2013, he founded Sawari Ventures, FLat6Labs, Nafham, and TATP (GrEEK Campus). Flat6Labs has grown to become the MENA region's leading startup accelerator operating in 6 countries having funded and launched over 200 companies. Sawari Ventures is VC fund management company that aims to help transform the Egyptian and MENA region economies through the creation of innovative high impact businesses.
    El Alfi started his career in Jefferies & Company where he worked for 10 years reaching Senior Vice President.

    Ms. Elizabeth Rossiello

    Elizabeth is the CEO and founder of BitPesa, a digital foreign exchange and payment platform in 8 markets across Africa and Europe. Founded in 2013, BitPesa was the first company to leverage digital currency to significantly lower the cost of making remittance and business payments to and from sub-Saharan Africa, as well as the first blockchain company to be licensed by the UK's FCA. Before BitPesa, Elizabeth was a rating analyst for microfinance institutions across sub-Saharan Africa, working with regulators and policy-makers on legislation for financial innovations. Elizabeth co-chairs World Economic Forum's Council on Blockchain and holds an M.A. in International Business and Finance from Columbia University.

    Obi is a co-founder and the current CEO of Kobo 360. Obi holds a B.A Degree in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania (USA). He started his professional career at JPMorgan Bank, New York where he worked in an investment banking and consulting capacity. In 2015, he moved back to Nigeria to join Uber’s Lagos team as its first operations coordinator where he implemented supply growth processes and strategies to help Uber scale in Nigeria.
    Being an individual passionate about trucking in Africa, Obi left Uber to co-found Kobo, together with his team, Obi is working to make Kobo a Global Logistics Operating System in Africa.

    Dr. Anis Sahbani

    Enova Robotics

    Anis Sahbani has been an Associate Professor of Robotics at Sorbonne University, France since 2004. His main current research interests are in the fields of human-centered robotics. He has been the principal investigator/partner of several European projects. In 2014, Anis Sahbani founded Enova ROBOTICS, the first company in Africa that manufactures its own-brand robots. Enova Robotics won several international awards such as two gold medals from the World Intellectual Property Organization and the gold medal of the International Exhibition of Inventions at Geneva. Anis Sahbani is also the winner of the Tunisian Best Young Leader award in 2016.

    Joined Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in 1991 and started his career in the Chemical Plant Division taking charge of Asian projects. When he worked for Mitsui & Co. (Brasil) S.A., he was in charge of Petrobras projects. After coming back to Tokyo HQ in 2002, he has been building his career through working for infrastructure projects in South America and Asia market, Corporate Planning & Strategy, infrastructure projects in Middle East, Africa, Russia and CIS market, then he has taken his current position since 2017.

    Koichi Narasaki is Group Chief Digital Officer, Executive Vice President and Executive Officer, SOMPO Holdings. Koichi is responsible for the creation of new experiences in the safety, security, and health of SOMPO customers by leveraging advanced digital technologies. Prior to joining SOMPO, Koichi led several startups as COO or CEO, mostly in the Silicon Valley, U.S. These software startups include Midokura Corporation, UBIP, IP Infusion, ACCESS CO., LTD, and Lineo, Inc. Before that, he spent 20 years at Mitsubishi Corporation driving global IT business development and strategic investments in the broadband/wireless markets.

    Prakash Hinduja, affectionately known as ‘PP’, is Chairman of the Hinduja Group (Europe), and Trustee of the Hinduja Foundation. He is the third son of the late Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja, founder of the Hinduja Group and Foundation. PP plays an active role promoting the Hinduja Group’s international profile and reputation: he is a partner of the World Economic Forum as well as a visiting participant at the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Africa World Bank forums and the Asian Development Bank. Hinduja Group has been advocating private business collaboration with Japan, India, Africa with Japanese technology and expertise for the economic development of Africa. Hinduja Group has been organising private receptions for African Dignitaries and VIPS during the last decades in Davos during the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum. PP has been meeting Japan Ambassadors in Washington DC, Geneva, New Delhi to foster Japan - India - Africa tripartite business and public private partnership.

    Serif Tosyali was born in Iskenderun, Turkey in 1985. He studied economy and finance at The George Washington University (Washington DC).     Mr. Philippe Valahu

    Philippe joined PIDG as CEO in 2014 and is a member of the Credit, Investment, and HSES Committees and Chair of InfraCo Africa. He has 28 years of experience in emerging markets infrastructure project and export finance, and risk management in power generation and transmission, renewables, water and social infrastructure. Before PIDG, he set up an infrastructure finance advisory firm and was with Depfa Bank’s emerging markets fixed income and structured export finance teams. Philippe spent 13 years at MIGA (World Bank Group) in Washington and Singapore as head of the guarantees department and as global head of infrastructure.

As Regional CEO of Africa (Intelligence and Business Development), based in Johannesburg since 2017 leading and managing a global integrated business across multiple industries including energy, infrastructure, finance, machinery, chemicals, food and environmental business. Joined Mitsubishi Corporation in 1987.

    Mr. Takashi Hattori

    Joined Toyota Tsusho Corporation in 1978 and has led the development of the African business for 41 years. He was stationed in Kenya, Cote d'Ivoire, and South Africa for 15 years. He was the first Managing Director of the group’s South African subsidiary and implemented a fundamental reform of the company’s management structure following its acquisition of a group of Toyota distributors in Eastern and Southern Africa from Lonrho of the UK. He was promoted as Executive Officer in 2006. In 2012 he oversaw the acquisition of French CFAO as CEO for the Automotive Division and was responsible for PMI (post-merger integration).
    With the establishment of the Africa Division in 2017, he was responsible for overseeing the group’s African business as Senior Managing Executive officer and the first CEO for the African Division. He is currently Executive Advisor to Toyota Tsusho Corporation.

    Dr. Katsumi Hirano

    Katsumi Hirano has been engaged in African Studies and Development Studies for more than 30 years. He holds an MA of Economics (Waseda University) and a Ph.D. in Global Studies (Doshisha University). He joined the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE-JETRO) in 1991 after working as Special Assistant in the Embassy of Japan in Zimbabwe, and as Program Officer in Sasakawa Peace Foundation. He has been visiting Research Fellow, University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa (1993-1995), Executive Director, JETRO Johannesburg Office (2004-2007), Director General, Area Studies Center, IDE-JETRO (2008-2012), Chief Senior Researcher (2012-2015), Lecturer at the University of the Sacred Heart (1997-2002), University of Tokyo (2002-2004), Rikkyo University (2014-2015) and Keio University (2015- ). He published many books on African affairs including one in English, Japan and South Africa in a Globalising World: A Distant Mirror, co-ed. with Chris Alden, Ashgate: UK, 2003. He received the Ono Azusa Memorial Award (1982) and the Okita Saburo Memorial Prize (2003).
