Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation

Oita Steelworks has a super-size facility that is one of the largest in the world. It uses state-of-the-art technologies and is situated on an expansive site spanning approx. 7 million square meters. The steelworks utilizes a linear layout running from west to east to efficiently produce large quantities of high-grade steel, beginning with raw iron materials and ending with product shipment.

- If the quota for participants has been reached, no further applications will be accepted for that day.
- Groups of 10 or more that can arrive by bus (up to 5 buses per group).
- Visitors are welcome from 3rd grade and up. Elementary students must be accompanied by a group leader.
* Tours must be by bus.
* An escort will accompany the bus and provide guidance.
* The steelworks does not make arrangements for buses.
- Do not wear kimono, sandals, geta clogs, high heels, etc, as the tour involves climbing/descending stairs and walking.
- Pictures/video are only allowed in designated areas.
