Industrial Tourism in Japan
Motomura Seimen-kojo
Our noodle factory is located in Sugawa in Minamishimabara City, which is known as the birthplace of Shimabara somen noodles. Sugawa is the area where Shimabara somen was first made and it is still the center of somen noodle production. This is why people in Shimabara have traditionally called the noodle “Sugawa somen” rather than “Shimabara somen.” Our factory may be smaller than other noodle factories in Sugawa, and we produce only a small amount of noodles. However we are proud of the taste of the noodles that we have produced every day, from early morning, since the era of our grandparents. It brings us joy knowing that our customers love our noodles.
