The restaurant industry as a whole is undergoing a period of major structural reforms, including shorter hours, reduced and restricted seating, and even closures. Food service companies are expanding their takeout and delivery menus and services to compensate for that decline in in-store dining, and some of the major players have already responded to the lifestyle changes resulting from the establishment of telecommuting by offering takeout and delivery services that account for more than 30% of sales. The food service industry is flexibly responding to this lifestyle change by developing take-out and delivery menus, developing side dishes and delicatessen menus exclusively for home consumption. In addition, the expansion of services beyond in-store dining is expected to accelerate in the future.
